Friday November 8, 2019 TWO OF RÉSIDENCES COGIR’S STAFF MEMBERS ARE RECIPIENTS OF A QSHG AWARD
Friday November 8, 2019

This is the third time the QSHG has awarded an ambassador employee prize in recognition of staff members who stand out with their leadership and creativeness within their work groups or with their energy and commitment to seniors. There are others who, in their free time, also become involved in social and community issues.

This major announcement was made during the November 6, 2019 opening conference of QSHG’s annual convention which was held at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac from November 6 to November 8, 2019. Close to 400 delegates had the opportunity to honour the excellence of these six ambassador employees.

Exceptional Commitment Award, Retirement Home with More than 100 Units

Jacques Guyon, recreation co-ordinator for more than 20 years at Montreal’s Cité Rive retirement home, was awarded the Exceptional Commitment Award, in the “Retirement Home with More than 100 Units” category. Also known as “Éric Martin”, his stage name, this actor, who received his training at Théâtre des Variétés, hosts a weekly roundup reaching hundreds of residents, providing them with a forum on news, culture, social and community issues. These lively get-togethers promote discussions and help to break through the seniors’ isolation.

Social and Community Involvement Award

Caroline Veilleux, Cogir Group’s Regional Nursing Director, was recognized in the “Social and Community Involvement, Retirement Home with More than 100 Units” category. She displayed great commitment during the 2019 disastrous spring flooding in Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce, doing everything possible to assist employees and citizens in need. As a result, the Château Sainte-Marie retirement home welcomed people who had lost their homes, giving them time to recover and find a new place.
